The Association of Students of Social Work(ASSOWK) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, on the 10th of July, 2020 inaugurated a BIO-DIGESTER TOILET FACILITY for the people of Bimma No. 2 in the Sekyere East District in the Ashanti Region.
Bimma No.2 is a community identified by students through their field work with Center for the Development of People (CEDEP) Ghana and has since been adopted by the association for a five-year period in which projects that would empower members of the community are constructed.
This initiative dubbed ASSOWK-KNUST community impact project began with the association in the 2017/2018 academic year executives under the leadership of Miss. Ayim Mary. The first project of the association was the construction of a mechanized borehole and polytank in the community. The association were able to pool funds through fundraising along with the help of the SRC-KNUST.

The ASSOWK 2018/2019 led by Master Essoun Reuben, broke ground for the commencement of a six-- seater bio-digester toilet facility in the community, however due to delayed funding and other set-backs the project was uncompleted.
Now, ASSOWK 2019/2020 led by Master Owusu Prince has completed the project and on the 9th of July, 2020, the bio-digester toilet was finally completed. The project was inaugurated on the 10th of July, 2020 despite the current pandemic affecting the world. The project was completed in collaboration with the Sekyere East District, COHSS-KNUST and SRC-KNUST.
The association believes in empowerment hence a continuation of this initiative.
